A Look Inside The Shop

SYD+SAM, our home decor and personal accessory boutique, now sits in the heart of Observatory Hill in Cambridge, MA, and we're inviting you inside.

In June 2015, interior design firm Pinney Designs transformed a community yoga studio into a gorgeous white work space. The firm spent the season growing into its new home and come late fall we moved into it's storefront. Inspired by the american-made movement and unique undiscovered vendors, interior designer Emily Pinney hand curated our shop to project a clean aesthetic and careful design. We've spent the last few months growing through the holiday season while preparing for spring and now, our shop is in full swing. It's safe to say 290 Concord Ave, Cambridge, MA has a new face. And it's pretty.

We love to make our products talk to each other on display. From waxed canvas totes to hand pinched ceramics, the vendors we've chosen all contribute to the conversation we're creating about products that make life more special, more fun.

Our goal was to set up a store that allowed the breadth of our open space to make window shoppers want to step inside. Our wide window displays are draped with a geometric yarn installation that acts as a mirage into the store. Our merchandise tables and square shelving units blend into the high white walls which allows each product to be seen carefully, one at a time. 

Fig & Bella make gorgeous hand dyed scarves out of Clinton Corners, NY. They work with both viscose and cashmere to create dipped or more texturized patterns and are a perfect accent piece for both winter and spring!

Maison Louis Marie is poured in Los Angeles, but inspired by French Botanists. Their fragrances are floral and perfect for home and body!

Rifle Paper Co. are revolutionizing the stationary industry with their hand painted patterns and small detailed prints. 

Known for their durability and design, Peg and Awl pouches are made from waxed canvas which is perfect for the artist, traveler, on-the-go person in your life. 

Twig 100% lambswool throws and wraps feel like winter but scream spring with their bright, beautiful colors.

Our custom pillows are filled in NH with 95% feather and 5% down and come in 22" square, 20" square and 12"X22". 

We know that part of keeping a great shop, is keeping it new. We are constantly changing and rearranging our products to highlight the season, a vendor we love, or an artist that should never go unnoticed. As much fun as it is for us to see our space constantly evolving, we have staple accessories and local artwork that keep us grounded to our humble beginnings. Like most, our shop began as an idea. But it's transformed into a challenge. A challenge to ourselves, our loyal customers, and the retail industry to adorn your space with products that make life more beautiful.
